Our Story
Founded to give communities access to the training, recruitment, retention and development tools that exist inside of giant corporations.
Workbay LLC is a mother-daughter founded SaaS company that launched in 2015 to close workforce gaps for communities, particularly focused on providing engaging and accessible resources to individuals under 25 years old, and individuals making less than $25.00/hour. Workbay grew out of our experience in CEO Mary Hayes’ previously founded company, Engage Learning Systems. Engage built training programs and content delivery systems for 30 Fortune 500 companies, in 6 languages and 45 countries. In that experience, we saw that when frontline employees left the job, which they often did due to high turnover rates, any credential earned on that job was lost to them.
We saw that educational and career success for underserved youth and adults required powerful new technology - because on-the-job training had no recognized credentialing system; because text-based job boards did not engage these workers; and because resumes didn’t effectively illustrate their skills. With Workbay we developed a technology that equipped Service Providers, working to close workforce gaps for underserved youth and adults, with the tools, resources, and skills-based training that exist inside a giant corporation. But, instead of that tool being focused on liability reduction and corporate performance metrics, we focused it on the needs of our target user (the underskilled or underemployed job-seeker) and the objectives of our target provider (the community workforce agent).
The Workbay Platform is a robust yet flexible workforce development platform that uniquely combines a Job Posting and Applicant Tracking System, a Learning Management System, and a Career Exploration Tool, with all activities written to a robust and customizable reports dashboard with varying levels of Administrative Roles and Data Security Permissions.
Additionally, we have full work-skills training programs with a library of engaging and accessible online training, and a learning and content management tool that allows Service Providers to create new or customize existing learning content.
